Pressure Transmitters

Pressure transmitters give continuous 4–20 mA or digital output for pipeline, tank and pump pressure monitoring across a water or wastewater plant. Capacitive, piezoresistive and strain-gauge technologies cover everything from a few mbar to 1,000 bar — the workhorse instrument behind pump protection, level inference and process control.

Sensing Technologies & Specification

Choose the cell technology for the range, accuracy and media.

  • Capacitive — excellent low-pressure sensitivity and stability
  • Piezoresistive — wide range, good dynamic response
  • Strain-gauge — rugged for high pressures and overpressure
  • Diaphragm-seal options for viscous, fouling or corrosive media

Typical specification

Accuracy ±0.1–0.5% of span · ranges from mbar to 1,000 bar · HART, Modbus or Foundation Fieldbus · diaphragm-seal and flush-mount options · SS316 / Hastelloy wetted parts · ATEX/IECEx variants.

Where Pressure Transmitters Are Used

Pump protection

Discharge and suction pressure for dead-head, dry-run and cavitation protection on process and dosing pumps.

Tank level by pressure

Hydrostatic level inference in vented and (with DP) sealed tanks — see differential pressure.

Filter & membrane monitoring

Feed and permeate pressure for RO, UF and media filters; flags fouling early.

Process control

Pressure as a controlled or interlock variable, feeding the PLC — see instrumentation & control.

Pressure Transmitters for Accurate Control Feedback

A pressure transmitter converts process pressure into a precise electrical signal the control system can act on, making it a workhorse instrument for pump control, filter differential-pressure monitoring, level inference and system protection. We select transmitters by range, accuracy, response, wetted materials and output, and install them with the isolation and impulse lines that keep the reading clean and the device maintainable. Differential-pressure transmitters across a filter or membrane reveal fouling early; level-by-pressure suits many tanks; and tight loop accuracy keeps pumps and dosing on point. Correctly ranged and sited, the transmitter gives the control system the trustworthy feedback good automation depends on.
