Produced Water Treatment for Reuse

This is an illustrative scenario showing how Reynolds & Bauhm equipment can be configured for this application. Every site has unique requirements — contact us for a solution tailored to your specific wastewater characteristics.

Process Requirements & Constraints

Onshore oil field producing 500 m3/day of produced water with oil 150 mg/L, TDS 12,000 mg/L, H2S 25 mg/L, and suspended solids 300 mg/L. Client requires treated water with oil <5 mg/L for reinjection to maintain reservoir pressure. Water recovery target 65%.

Treatment Approach

Step-by-step process configuration from raw wastewater to compliant discharge.

01

CPI Separation

Corrugated Plate Interceptor (CPI) separator removes free oil and large solids. 45-minute retention, plate spacing 20 mm. Oil skimmer recovers crude for resale. Effluent oil reduced to 45 mg/L.

02

Induced Gas Flotation

IGF unit with microbubble generation removes emulsified oil to <10 mg/L. Automated chemical dosing of demulsifier and flocculant optimises oil bubble attachment and separation.

03

DAF Polishing

DAF system provides final oil removal achieving <5 mg/L. Coagulant and polymer dosing ensures fine oil droplet capture. Skimmings returned to CPI separator.

04

Reverse Osmosis

Spiral-wound RO membranes desalinate DAF effluent from 12,000 to <500 mg/L TDS. Two-pass configuration with energy recovery. 65% water recovery, 35% brine to evaporation pond.

05

H2S Stripping & Disinfection

Packed column air stripping removes H2S from <0.5 mg/L. UV disinfection ensures <100 CFU/100mL for reinjection. SCADA-controlled automatic operation.
