High-volume treatment for quarry and open-pit operations with continuous pumping — clearing silt and correcting pH so pit water can be discharged or reused at scale.
The engineering behind this application — flow estimation, treatment-train sizing and discharge compliance.
Water treatment across mining, aggregate and quarrying operations.
Enhanced treatment where ground or process water carries contaminants.
Mobile, pre-assembled dewatering treatment for remote sites.
Working quarries and open pits dewater continuously to keep faces and benches dry, often pumping very large volumes of silt-laden water around the clock. That water must be cleared of suspended solids and brought within consent before it leaves site or is reused for processing and dust control. This page frames the application; the linked engineering guide covers continuous high-volume flow and lamella sizing.
Continuous High-Volume Silt Removal
Quarry water is dominated by fine rock flour and silt that is slow to settle in lagoons alone. We add high-rate lamella clarification and coagulation to lagoon systems — or replace them where land is scarce — to clear large continuous flows to consent in a fraction of the footprint. pH correction handles acidic or alkaline ground, and treated water is recycled for wash-plant make-up, dust suppression and haul-road watering to cut abstraction.
High-rate treatment for round-the-clock pit pumping at high volume.
Coagulation and lamella clarification clear fine silt that lagoons settle too slowly.
Neutralisation for acidic or alkaline pit water before discharge.
Treated water recycled for wash-plant, dust suppression and haul roads.
Why Pit Water Is Hard to Clear
Quarry water combines very high volumes with fine, slow-settling solids and a need to run continuously, often where settlement-lagoon land is limited or already full.
Continuous pumping produces flows that overwhelm simple settlement.
Colloidal silt will not settle without coagulation, so lagoons silt up and carry over.
High-rate clarification clears the same flow in far less space than extra lagoons.
From Pit Sump to Compliant Discharge
Sumps at the pit floor pump silt-laden water continuously to the treatment plant.
High-rate lamella clarifiers clear large continuous flows in a small footprint.
