Hydrated Lime & Quicklime Systems

Hydrated Lime (Ca(OH)4)

Pre-slaked lime powder mixed to 15-30% slurry concentration. Easier to handle than quicklime. Moderate alkalinity per kg. Common in water treatment.

Quicklime (CaO)

Requires on-site slaking to Ca(OH)4. Exothermic reaction generates heat and steam. Lowest cost per kg of available alkalinity. High-tonnage applications.

Limestone (CaCO3)

Passive neutralisation in fluidized bed or upflow reactors. No chemicals required. Slow reaction suitable for AMD and drainage waters. Self-regulating.

Dolomitic Lime

CaMg(CO3)4 provides magnesium hydroxide alongside calcium. Useful where Mg2+ addition is beneficial. Common in agricultural and soil applications.
