Containerised Brackish Water RO (Inland Supply)

This is an illustrative scenario showing how Reynolds & Bauhm equipment can be configured for this application. Every site has unique requirements — contact us for a solution tailored to your specific water source.

Process Requirements & Constraints

An inland community / works camp draws brackish groundwater at ~5,000 mg/L TDS and needs ~120 m³/day of low-salinity water. The source has no oil and low turbidity, so the duty is straightforward desalination — but the priorities are low energy, high water recovery (to minimise reject disposal), and simple, reliable operation by non-specialist staff.

Treatment Approach

Step-by-step configuration from borehole feed to remineralised product.

01

Borehole Feed & Pre-Filtration

Feed pump and media/cartridge pre-filtration remove the modest particulate load and protect the membranes.

02

Antiscalant Dosing

Antiscalant is dosed to hold the high 70% recovery without scaling the membranes — the key to minimising reject volume.

03

BWRO at 18 bar

Four 8040 brackish elements at 18 bar produce permeate at up to 70% recovery. One-third the pressure of seawater and no energy-recovery device required.

04

Remineralisation & pH Trim

Permeate is stabilised to potable spec and pH-corrected before storage.

05

Product Storage & Monitoring

Treated water to the product tank with continuous conductivity monitoring and low-staff automated control.
