Offshore Platform Potable Water (DAF + SWRO)

This is an illustrative scenario showing how Reynolds & Bauhm equipment can be configured for this application. Every site has unique requirements — contact us for a solution tailored to your platform and demand.

Process Requirements & Constraints

An offshore platform needs an independent potable-water supply from seawater, with strict limits on deck space, weight and crane lift. The marine environment is corrosive, the unit must be certified for offshore lifting, and the electricals must survive salt-laden air and washdown. Two 20ft containers — one for DAF pre-treatment, one for seawater RO — deliver the duty within the deck constraints.

Treatment Approach

Step-by-step configuration from seawater intake to platform potable supply.

01

Seawater Intake & Strainer

Platform seawater is screened and lifted to the DAF container at a controlled rate.

02

DAF Pre-Treatment (20ft)

Compact lamella DAF removes oil and solids, protecting the membranes from the platform’s hydrocarbon and particulate load.

03

Cartridge Filtration

5-micron polish ahead of the high-pressure pump.

04

SWRO at 60 bar (20ft)

Two 8040 SWRO elements produce ~1.5 m³/h of potable permeate. Compact-scale duty, so no energy-recovery device.

05

Remineralisation & Storage

Permeate is remineralised to potable spec and stored, with continuous quality monitoring.
